About KalQSplit
The story behind KalQSplit.
KalQSplit started from a familiar annoyance: splitting a dinner bill, a group trip, or a shared apartment's expenses always seems to involve someone doing mental math on their phone, a group chat full of "wait, who owes who," and at least one person who just quietly eats the cost rather than deal with it. We built KalQSplit to make that part boring — in a good way.
What we care about
The person who actually starts a group shouldn't have to fight the friends they're splitting with to join. That's why only the group organizer needs an account — everyone else can join with an invite link, add expenses, and settle up as a guest. We also don't touch real money: KalQSplit calculates who owes whom, not a payment processor, so there's nothing sensitive to hand over and nothing that can go wrong with a transaction.
What KalQSplit does
Split a bill four different ways (evenly, by amount, by percentage, or by share), scan a receipt and let AI pre-fill the line items, track balances across a whole trip's worth of expenses, and settle up with an audit trail of who confirmed what. See the FAQ for specifics, or just create a group and try it.
Who's behind it
KalQSplit is built and operated by Mark Agustin as a small, independent project. Feedback shapes almost everything that ships — if something's confusing or missing, the Help page has a way to reach us.
